In this pandemic and negativity, this role came as a ray of sunshine: Shahbaz Khan.
Veteran actor Shahbaz Khan recently entered Rajan Shahi’s popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He will be playing the character of Ranveer’s (Karan Kundra) father Narendra Nath Chauhan in the show.
Sharing his reasons for taking up this role he says,”The fact that Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is the longest running show on television is enough reason. Also the role which has been offered to me is strong and I like to play such characters. In this pandemic and negativity-filled world, this role came as a ray of sunshine for me. So I just took it.”
Shahbaz is aware that YRKKH is a popular show and responsibilities and expectations are both very high. He says,”It’s a very popular show and widely watched. As an actor whenever I enter a show I do my best. I try to add my own creative touch to every character. In this show, it is a challenge because all the characters are established and making a mark as a new entrant is not easy. This show has already reached great heights; I want to help it climb higher.” Speaking about Rajan Shahi he says, ”He is an extremely hardworking man, very down to earth, focused and profound. His entire team is focused and immensely talented and hardworking.”
The pandemic is still here and lockdown continues in various part of the country. So what’s your ray of hope?
“My ray of hope is the courage and strength of every Indian.
Heart goes out to the people who have lost their dear ones and people who have recovered. It’s the fighting spirit of every Indian I think that is my ray of hope.” Shahbaz is aware of the covid rules on the set as he says,”The rules have to be followed. It’s very important and it doesn’t make a difference to me as an actor. We have to learn to live with this as these are the new norms.”
Shahbaz is someone who is working in the industry for last three decades. So any regrets?
“I don’t have any regrets. I take life as it comes and in the last 30 years there has been ups and down but experiences have has been valuable, priceless that’s more Important. I have been part of many genres but historical shows are still my favourite. There is so much to do in historical shows as we have a rich culture as a country.”

I am a very hungry actor and am looking out for a good variety of roles. I am untapped because of my image and still feel that I have lot in me. Hopefully I will be able to move out of that soon!
