Before the dawn of the golden era of the Cholas a prophecy was made that shook the very foundation of the entire kingdom and grasped it in feuds and conspiracies for the throne. Encompassing this vivid emotion is Devaralan Naach that depicts a powerful performance for the Goddess who asks for a 'balidan'

 

Leaving the audience thinking to whose blood from the Chola empire will quench the thirst of the Goddess and grant the throne. Devaralan Naach is not just powerful lyrical, the visuals too are compelling to get the audience thronging to the theatres on the 30th of September.

 

Mani Ratnam said, "We have tried to be just as real as possible. The novel was written 70 years back, and we've tried to stay genuine to it. I think the issues that have been dealt with in the book are very much contemporary, the need for power and the struggle to achieve it." when asked about the thought behind Devaralan Naach.

 

AR Rahman has delivered another exceptional feet-tapping track after Chola Chola. Heavy on base and Vedic-based music, Devaralan Naach transcends one into another realm giving the listeners a surge of energy.

 

Talking about the song AR Rahman said, "In Devaralan Naach, we've used Bali music and instruments with monkey chants to give accurate native sounds. We researched and experimented with a lot before zeroing on what is now the final outcome."

 

Ponniyin Selvan will hit the screens on 30th September in five languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Based on the novel by Kalki, PS-1 revolves around the 10th-century Chola Dynasty and the struggle for the throne.

 

The film has an ensemble star cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Prabhu, R. Sarath Kumar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Rahman, Jayachitra and Lal.
